Our Story and Mission
After a long business trip to the Philippines, I was touched and overwhelmed at the humility and poverty of many I met. I still remember the boy tugging at my sleeve and begging for something to eat, anything. Yet I had nothing to give. Upon my return, my family's hearts were drawn to doing something to help this boy and others like him. Many of them had such wonderful talent and such tremendous faith, but lacked the opportunities to sell their goods.
My family's constant prayers led us to start HumbleArt to act as a vehicle to help artisans sell their goods beyond the boarders of their economic conditions to markets that could support them. We work with designers and retailers to improve each product and prepare it for market. Following the principles of Fair Trade, we now continue to help by wholesaling all kinds of art products. Our wholesale pricing is designed to maximize the revenue for these families in developing countries thus lifting them to higher ground.
We also encourage every family we work with to participate in "Starting and Growing My Business" courses. These courses are sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We encourage them to diversify and expand their distribution channels both locally and internationally. Volunteers mentor these families along and help them overcome obstacles both in product development and in sales and marketing. Financially we function as a non-profit, but have not filed for 501C3 status.
